I’ve been living in my new home for two months, and unfortunately, I’m still dealing with several unresolved issues that have made my experience frustrating. The standing water problem in my backyard continues to be a major concern. Despite Meritage sending someone to fix the drainage, the water still accumulates in one area between the homes, and no permanent solution has been implemented. Every time it rains—even lightly—the water stays there, and it’s becoming incredibly annoying. The kitchen cabinet issue was also addressed, but after the technician’s visit, I was told that “it’s just like that” and nothing has changed. Additionally, my doorbell box near the living room still isn’t working, and no technician has come to resolve this. The electrical issue with breaker number 24 continues to cause power outages in two of my bedrooms. An electrician was sent out, but the problem wasn’t fixed. The technician simply reset the breaker, and I’m still facing the same issue. Given the persistent nature of these problems, I believe Meritage Homes should implement a follow-up service system. After a technician addresses a problem, there should be a set period, maybe a few days or weeks, before someone else follows up with the customer to ensure the issue was fully resolved and that the customer is satisfied. This would have caught issues like the standing water, which is still unresolved and a big concern for me. The main reason I would not recommend my experience to anyone is that I’ve lived in rental properties before, including homes, and I never encountered this amount of problems or delays. In the past, when something needed to be fixed, the response was much quicker, and I didn’t have to wait weeks or even months for a solution. Right now, the ongoing issues are becoming exhausting, especially considering the impact on my daily life. I shouldn’t have to constantly schedule appointments and wait for technicians, only to have the problems remain unresolved. As a parent with a baby at home, these issues are adding unnecessary stress to my life. I expected a much higher standard of service from Meritage Homes, and unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing.
It us an ok house for a first time buyer. I have chosen to come in and change everything from toilets to faucets, to closets, every window treatment so the value of the house was not there for me.
